We were absolutely thrilled recently to hear that the Marlborough Sun Sauvignon Blanc Bubbles 2025 was awarded a Double Gold award at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2026.
We were absolutely thrilled recently to hear that the Marlborough Sun Sauvignon Blanc Bubbles 2025 was awarded a Double Gold award at the Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards 2026.
The Sakura Womens Wine Awards began in 2013 and is a unique and engaging competition selecting wines from around the world that pair well with Japanese and other Asian cuisines, from the perspective of Japanese female wine professionals. The competition has a strong focus on wines that are accessible and appealing and introduces new wines and new wine and food pairings to the general public.
In addition to winning Double Gold, the Marlborough Sun Sauvignon Blanc Bubbles 2025 also took out Special Awards for Pairing with Asian Cuisine ‘Thai’ and for Pairing with Japanese Cuisine ‘Tempura’.
Marlborough Sun’s official distributor is Mottox, a well-established wine and spirits importer based in Osaka, with over 100 years in the industry.
On hearing of the award, a Mottox spokesperson said “Receiving a Double Gold Medal in such a competition is truly meaningful and we know it will provide a great opportunity for more consumers to discover this excellent Sparkling wine made from Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough, New Zealand, one of the world’s most renowned regions for this variety.
