Streaks of Gold
In Marlborough, an unusual occurrence has begun appearing in the local fields and pastures. Several witnesses have reported seeing fully grown adults streaking, singing, and dancing, holding a form of liquid gold in each hand. We have since assured them it is merely our Marlborough Sun winemakers rejoicing about the latest award-winning Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Our Marlborough Sun Sauvignon Blanc 2022 has been awarded two outstanding gold medals since release, causing quite a party in our Marlborough office. The team are elated with the success of this wine and view it as a testament that while we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we do in our work. Fresh aromatics of nettle, wet stone, and citrus leap from the glass. Our Marlborough Sun Sauvignon Blanc shows classic ripe gooseberries, bright citrus on the palate, the clean minerality adds length and persistency to the finish.
The following results have been awarded to our Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2022
Gold Medal, Concours Mondial du Sauvignon, 2023
Gold Medal, Sam Kim: Wine Orbit, 2023
“Beautifully fragrant and inviting, the bouquet shows feijoa, kiwifruit, lime peel and basil aromas, leading to a juicy palate offering bright fruit flavours with crunchy acidity, making it flavoursome and fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2024.”
Our approach to the 2022 Sauvignon Blanc was to strip everything back to let the vineyard terroir shine through.
The fruit for this wine was selected from vineyards across Marlborough’s sub regions, including Wairau Valley. The fruit was carefully monitored throughout maturity and was harvested upon reaching optimum flavour development and ripeness. Transported to the winery with haste and pressed off with minimal skin contact, the resulting juice was cool fermented in stainless steel to retain freshness and aromatics.
While for legal reasons, we cannot encourage you to sing and dance about the nearest field dressed as our winemakers, we hope you get the chance to relish in Marlborough Sun.
